And Little Liv has been getting ready for Joes birthday party. She wanted me to call him and ask if he would prefer her to paint her nails pink or blue? Hmmm... I don't think Joe really has a preference... So she decided that she would paint blue, to symbolize Star Wars because Joe, loves Star Wars. And pink too, because well everyone loves pink!

Happy Hearts Day
5 1/2 cups flour
4 cups water
3/4 cup oil
8 tsp cream of tarter
2 cups salt
food coloring or scent of choice
Mix water, oil, tarter, salt in a big pot on a cold stove. I then add the flour and stir until well blended. Then turn on heat to medium and add coloring. Stir and stir until mixture forms a doughy consistency of play-doh. This takes some muscles! Then turn it out on waxed paper and work it until smooth. Play and have fun!!

Toliet Troubles
Late Friday night we were laid low by the stomach virus. Ethan woke up and cried for a few minutes then settled back down. About an hour later he came down the stairs in a daze but his hair looked funny. Upon closer inspection it was dried throw up. Yuck! I thought well he probably coughed until he threw up, so I washed him and snuggled him down in my bed. Upstairs we washed all his linens and drug out the carpet cleaner...
Well an hour later he jumps up and runs to the bathroom, yes throw up, again.. and again, and again... then again on the couch, and then the diarrhea started..............
So we had a doctors appointment scheduled for Saturday morning for his asthma/allergies. The doc said that this nasty stomach virus is going around that starts with a cough, then puking for 2 days, then 2-3 days of diarrhea, and then a rash. Can you say not your normal 24 hour bug!!
I have washed blankets, washed all the couch cushions 2x, and then wrapped all beds, cushions and pillows in plastic under the cases... I have bleached everything!!!!!!!!!
I know Mike thinks I am crazy, but al I see is germs and cross contamination. The girls have been quarentined upstairs, and everyone has designated "safe" bathrooms.
And that gets me to the heart of our toliet post. My master bath toliet has been sluggish since Christmas, and completely stopped working about mid January. Mike, who is Mr Handy Manny, refused to call a plumber. He has snaked it, with my help, twice. He has dumped drain-O down the toliet, 3 times, with no success. And finally with a sick kid I was OVER not having a toliet in my room. So Monday, I AM calling the plumber! So Handy Manny brings out the big boy tools. Remember I am freaking out over germs at the moment, and taking the toliet off to me sounds like ALOT of germ transmission!
Well he did take off the toliet, with my help, YUK!

And guess what he found, after unclumping a wad of toliet paper, that REALLY was odorific?

Maddy's 11th Birthday
Well I realized my parenting error as soon as I sat down in a puddle of water in the front of the boat! As it launched, I got this sick feeling that Mike, who was waiting outside for us, was going to have a great time saying I told you so!!
Yeah, we walked off drenched and miserable, and Maddy said, Mom, "Why didn't you stop me, you're supposed to say "no"!! Like I said there is a lesson here.

A day that will go down in history...
Each generation will have events that they remember where they were when..this or ..that happened. We will remember 911 and where we were, when the Challenger exploded, my mom remembers President Kennedy's assassination. And now something joyful to be able to relay first hand about our nations history. I hope everybody is enjoying this little piece of history. I love to see all the different branches of government and parties come together in unity for this event.

You belong in Generation X

You fit in best with people born between 1961 and 1981.
You are fun, laid back, and very independent.
You are willing to take risks and live your life however you see fit.
You are casual, accepting, and friendly. You see everyone as your equal.

You are Buttermilk Pancakes

Your prefer traditional, old fashioned foods.
You shy away from anything fake, and you like meals with simple ingredients.
It's not likely someone would find margarine or diet soda in your kitchen.(obviously it takes alot to maintain this figure ;)
Instead, someone might find a loaf of homemade bread baking or a soup simmering.
Take the Quiz
What Kind of Pancakes Are You?
Weeks In Review
Well I have neglected posting too much due to my fascination with facebook. I think I'm over it now, I am returning to my bloggity, blog. As for this site I often wonder how it comes across to a complete stranger, or to people who really do not know me. Do they think I am a straight laced, jumper wearing homeschooler? Quilting, soap making, bread baking, what does that say to you??
I guess I am pondering this because the audience of my blog may change a little. Family that I have not spoken to in many years may run across this site and I wonder what impression they will walk away with.
As for the last few weeks, I have spent them completely organizing the house, garage, and planning for this school semester. I love when Christmas is over, and everything gets back to normal. It feels almost like the start of school, fresh and new.
We will have to go through the summer with schooling since we took off almost all of last semester. I am really okay with that. It's so hot here in the summer that you really rather be inside than doing anything else. It is spring and winter that I find tough to stay focused and inside. We are just getting ready to delve into Civil War history, and we are supposed to be going to Williamsburg & Gettysburg the end of February.
Ethan is going through an attached stage. He adores Mike, and wants to be with him ALL the time. Which I am enjoying at the moment ;) He stands at the door if Mike leaves and cries, and cries. Mike had to stay with him in Sunday school last week.
Really it is so sweet to see him trail after Mike. I mean if you were a little boy Mike would be "THE MAN". Pulling trailers, big trucks, tractors and a junk yard, that's where it's at for a 3 year old boy. I think he will be rebuilding motors by his 5th birthday.
I made 2 loaves of soap for Ethan. One was an olive oil & coconut bar, and the other had olive, grapeseed, avocado, oils and shea butter. These should help with his eczema. I have really enjoyed soaping, but really how many bars does one family need? I think I have enough for all of 2009..
I found some cute sundress patterns, but don't really feel motivated to sew them in this frigid weather. The high today is like 62. Sundresses, hot cocoa, and fire places don't go together. I am definitely ready for some spring weather, but then I will want to neglect our school and be outside the whole time...
Maddy & Liv's birthdays are this next week. Maddy will be 11, and Liv will be 6. Disney is offering free tickets on your birthday, so Liv and I are going on Monday. Maddy and Mike are going on Thursday. Good thing we have friends who work at Disney ;) Maddy says she wants a sleepover, but since we had a big sleepover last weekend, I am not inclined to repeat it so soon. In fact wasn't it enough to get to go to Disney when we were kids???
I know this post is rambling, but nothing too interesting has happened here lately other than the premiere of 24 last week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE 24, and Jack Bauer!! Copy That!!
Okay I am done............

The Tooth Fairy
Let me just tell you what a loser the tooth fairy was. He did well the first night, and 3 shiny quarters were found in the tooth fairy pillow. However, when she lost/had pulled the second tooth, well that night the tooth fairy fell asleep on the job. The next morning a sad little girl came down the stairs saying the tooth fairy never came!!!!!!!!!! She was holding the tooth so there was no way to say oh, maybe it fell underneath the bed, and with a little sleight of hand make it all better. So what is a loser parent/tooth fairy to do?? Lie, yes lying still works on 5 year olds. Well honey maybe she was too busy...and then she gives you the story you need when she says she stayed up trying to catch the tooth fairy.
Me: You stayed up all night???
Liv: Yes, all night
Me: Oh, well that is why she(He) throwing a disgusted look at my husband, didn't come. You have to be asleep for the tooth fairy to come. Hey it works with Santa, so she might buy it...
Liv: Yeah, that's right I didn't go to sleep. Okay, she bounces away sure that the tooth fairy will make an appearance tonight...
Guess What Liv went to sleep and the tooth fairy came last night!!

Private
Hi all,
I have watched one too many "Nancy Grace" shows today, and after a particularly sick and disturbing story, I have decided to make my blog private.
So please email me or leave a comment if you need or want me to send you an invite.
